Mosques 65 & 46 Push Peace and Truth in New Orleans
Brothers from Mosque No. 65 in Baton Rouge joined forces with the Fruit of Islam (FOI) from Mosque No. 46 in New Orleans this past weekend in a unified mission to serve the community, promote peace, and spread the teachings of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. Their focus was twofold: pushing The Final Call newspaper and engaging residents in conversations about violence prevention.
The men hit the streets of New Orleans' Magnolia Housing Development and the historic 6th Ward — areas that have long faced the challenges of poverty, gun violence, and systemic neglect. With discipline, humility, and purpose, the FOI spoke with residents one-on-one, delivering not only The Final Call, but also messages of hope, accountability, and empowerment.
“We’re not just here to distribute a newspaper,” said one of the brothers from Mosque No. 65. “We’re here to listen, build relationships, and offer real solutions rooted in self-respect, love for our people, and community unity.”
The outreach was well received. Community members expressed appreciation for the presence of the FOI, who brought a message that centered on responsibility, manhood, and peace. For some, just seeing a group of organized, disciplined Black men walking in love and purpose was a statement in itself.
The collaboration between Mosque No. 65 and Mosque No. 46 serves as an example of what unity between cities can look like — not just in word, but in action. As violence continues to impact families across Louisiana, these brothers remain committed to being on the front lines, leading by example, and uplifting the communities they serve.
Their message was clear: We are our brother’s keeper.
